      Salish Grammar Workshop

      Salish Grammar Workshop - Registration deadline November 13th, 2019 This event is for Salish language learners to deepen their understanding of the underlying mechanisms of Salish languages, particularly the Southern Interior dialects of Salish which include Okanagan, Moses-Columbia, Coeur d'Alene, Spokane/Kalispel/Bitterroot.  Each topic will be reviewed as a larger group, then broken out into small group activities by dialect.  There will be Fluent Elder Speaker support on site for Okanagan and Spokane/Kalispel/Bitterroot learners.         Hotel Reservations:  GROUP CODE/BOOKING ID 5883.  Group rate is available until November 15th.  Hotel reservations can be made by calling 800-523-2464.    8:00 - 9:00 Registration & Breakfast serving sausage breakfast sandwhiches and fresh fruit. 9:00 Welcome & Prayer 9:15 Morphology a morpheme is the smallest unit of meaning in a language. Salish languages are made up of morphemes being built upon one another to make words and sentences. 9:45 Imperatives (intransitive) imperatives are commands to do a verb. The way a command is said changes whether or not there is an object involved, it is negative, or if it is singular or plural.
