Course DescriptionSocial justice is a familiar slogan for most educators in 2020, but what does it mean to be a social justice educator? And, how can social justice principles be put into everyday action in a learning environment to effect positive change? In this workshop, we explore these questions, and offer games and activities that can be helpful in building community at the same time as teaching and learning about issues of social justice.
      Workshop participants will:

Learn about key ideas related to social justice and community development, including:Social justice: community, equity, privilege & oppression, and social action.Community development: Moving from group to community by creating secure, significant, and solidified communities
Learn to lead games and activities that facilitate learning conversations related to issues of social justice (e.g.: racism, sexism, homophobia, poverty, etc).
Make connections with others to help build a network of social justice minded professionals.
